Children from institutions and poor children enjoy a real holiday. It’s not only a holiday, but it’s a week like no other week for them. They will be taken away from the poverty of their normal lives and hear the Good News of Christ. It’s a holiday to look forward to and one they will always remember.
‘My life is rather boring. Sometimes I am sad, because so many sad things happen. Only during the Summer Camp I felt really happy. It’s good to have experienced such memorable things,’ said young Volodymyr after attending his first Summer Camp in Ukraine last year.

Summer camps provide children with fresh air, healthy food, new games, adventures, friends and the freedom to relax. The camps also provide each child with an opportunity to learn about the personal love of Jesus.

‘I liked the food so much, we ate fruit every day and a cooked meal. The little houses where we stayed were cosy and clean. I was able to go to the swimming pool. I was frightened at first to go into the water, but seeing my friends play and having fun gave me confidence. After a few days I jumped into the water and now I can even swim in deep water.’

‘So many Bible stories tell about real friendship. We often had to work together as a team. We found our own wood for a campfire and every evening we sat around a big fire singing. It was very cosy.’

Monika (13) from Bosnia-Herzegovina would like to have a friend to talk with at the institution in which she stays.

Last year a Director of an Institution in Ukraine asked: “What did you do to our children? They seem so changed. We wish you took all our kids to your Camp!”

· They will be in a healthy environment (countryside or coast)
· They will enjoy nutritional food and good medical care
· They will be helped by trained personnel (trained in trauma, behavioural problems etc.)
· They will learn about God and the Bible with songs and a Bible for every child
· They will be able to talk in small groups about specific subjects, sharing experiences and seeking advice.

And of course they will play!

In addition every child will receive:

· sweets, toothbrushes, and much much more

In orphanages and poor families children suffer from emotional and spiritual neglect. As grown ups they still have problems.
